Services for Wanda Jo Calton will be held Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 3pm at First Baptist Church of Mabank with Rev. Brent Tucker and Rev. Larry Standberg officiating. Interment will follow the service at Elm Grove Cemetery. Wanda was born on December 28, 1944 in Chicago, IL to parents Joe Berry and Sammie Lydia (Cecil) Glaze. She married the love of her life, William "Bill" Calton on August 30, 1963. They were married for 34 years. She entered eternal rest on June 19, 2019 at the age of 74.
Wanda loved people; she had a servant's heart and was very giving and generous. She enjoyed going to visit neighbors and friends, but traveling to spend time with her family was the most important thing to her. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mabank where she taught Sunday School, served on the Benevolence Committee, took part in the women's ministry and numerous Bible studies. She also volunteered at the local food pantry. Wanda was an amazing mother, Mimi, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed tremendously by those that knew and loved her.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Joe Berry Glaze; her mother and step-father, Sammie and Bill Black; and her husband, Bill Calton.
She is survived by her daughters: Tammy Craig and husband Kent of Bells, TX; Terri Brown and husband Toney of New York, TX; and Tanya Willingham and husband Robert of Blum, TX; grandchildren: Taylor Craig, Garrett Brown and wife Eleanor, Crockett Brown, Tucker Willingham, Addison Willingham, and Gunner Willingham; brothers: Donnie Glaze and wife Debbie of Madisonville, TN; James Black and wife Robin of Mabank, TX; and Kenneth Black and wife Julie of Canton, TX; sister Betty Black and husband Robert of Grand Saline, TX; and nieces, nephews, other loving family members and lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Wanda's honor to First Baptist Church of Mabank Benevolence Fund, 113 E. Mt. Vernon St., Mabank, Texas 75147, 903-887-3921, your local food pantry or charity of your choice.
