Athens - Stephen Gene Campbell, 81, of Mabank, passed away on September 10, 2025.

Stephen was born on July 22, 1944, to Gene Campbell and Albertine Clark in Long Beach, California. Stephen served in the Navy for 6 years. After returning he attended Louisiana State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education.

In 1980 Stephen and Syliva met at Church on the Rock in Rockwall TX. Stephen and Sylvia got married in November of 1983 and this year would have celebrated their 42nd anniversary. They moved to Athens in 1999.

Stephen was one of the first employees at the Athens Office Depot and retired from there after 15 years. He loved and enjoyed every minute of his time working there. Stephen never met a stranger.

With his outgoing personality and strong work ethics he received salesman of the year several times. Stephen loved sharing the Grace of God to those around him. He loved the outdoors, traveling with Sylvia, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a brother Mason and 2 sisters Mary Jane and Elizabeth. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sylvia Campbell, 3 children, Lisa Dickerson, Laurie Toler, and Tom Terrell; 7 grandchildren, Beau, Derek, Zach, Bobby, Desarea, Brittany, and Trey; and 21 great grandchildren Addison, Brayden, Colton, Jordynn, Jaxon, Maddox, Kynsler, Daxton, Tinley, RaeLynn, Ethan, Layne, Stella, Kyli, Coltyn, Zaylen, Jeremiah, Jameson, Faithlyn, Tandin, and Travis.

A memorial service for Stephen will be announced at a later time.
