Athens - Services for Richard Allen Williams, 92, of Athens, will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church of Athens, Texas, with Reverend Bill Burton officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Moore Station under the direction of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2026. He was born December 6, 1933, to Allen Williams and Ruth Hightower Williams of LaRue, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and a devoted member and deacon of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. He dedicated several years to the Athens community as well as an employee of Cotton Belt Railroad for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Williams and Ruth Hightower Williams, 7 siblings, and 4 children. Survivors include his loving sister Vivian Jean Hart, daughters Kimberly Sipriano, Latonya Gamble, and Jacqueline Williams, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Public viewing will be held at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The family will receive visitors during that time.
