Michael David Magee Obituary

Athens - Michael David Magee passed away on July 11, 2026, at his home in Athens. He was born on November 26, 1949, in Athens to Billy Raymond Magee and Daisy Ruth Hodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herbert Hodge Hamilton.

Mike lived a life marked by hard work, service, and a love for history and adventure. He dedicated more than 40 years of his career to the telephone company, retiring from CenturyLink after years of faithful service.

Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army. Growing up in a military family, he followed in the footsteps of his father, who was an Army drill sergeant. His respect for military history remained with him throughout his life, and he had a deep appreciation for learning about the past.

In his spare time, Mike enjoyed rebuilding and restoring classic cars, and spending time at car shows with fellow enthusiasts. He was also a member of the Grease Ragg Cruzers group in Athens. Music was another of his passions, and he loved all genres, especially the timeless classics.

Those who knew Mike will remember him as a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a practical joker who loved making others laugh, and his wit and playful spirit left lasting memories with family and friends. His life was one of dedication, curiosity, and joy, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Lottie Magee; daughter, Wendy Thornton and husband Jody; sons, Gregory Magee and wife Andrea, Raymond Magee and wife Brandy; grandchildren, Michael Chase and wife Missy, Reiley Spears and fiancé Gage, Zach Melton and wife Jessica, Heather Alvizo and husband Juan, Ava-Lynn Magee, Olivia Magee, Kitty McCool, Jessia Ruiz and husband Walter, Daniela Calderon, Sebastian Calderon, Kristen Van Gorp, Meranda Finney and husband Michael, and Tyler Walker; great grandchildren, Corbin, Cason, Ryder, Emma, Carson, Madelynn, Blakelynn, Aspen and Easton; sisters, Billie McIntrye and husband Patrick, Darlene Gunter and husband Steve; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at Faith Church in Athens.
