Evelyn Laverne Pope passed away in Athens, TX on September 5, 2019. She was born in Dallas, TX on November 1, 1933 to Veay and Gracie Pogue.
Mrs. Pope is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Edgar Pope; daughter, Debra Richardson and her husband Don; grandchildren: Chris Metcalf and wife Jennifer, Amy Michelle Metcalf, Wesley Richardson and wife Katie, Ali Palmer and husband Charles, Lindsey Dias and husband Chris; great-grandchildren: Bradley Palmer, Bryson Palmer, Hailey Richardson; brothers: Lester Pogue and wife Patsy, Larry Pogue, Paul Pogue and wife Judy; sister: Sue Coker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Edward Pogue, Melba Gean Pogue, Fred Pogue, and Eddie Lee Pogue.

Evelyn was a wonderful cook and enjoyed pleasing others with her meals of love. She and Edgar also loved to travel, going to destinations like Colorado and Hawaii. She loved the Lord and was so proud of her mother and her mother's family for founding the Bethel Hill Assembly of God Church which is still in existence today. Throughout her life it was evident that she loved her family and her husband Edgar with all her heart.

Visitation will be from 4-6 pm, Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 am, Monday, September 9, 2019 at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Pope, Sr. and Rev. Larry Pogue. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
