Dwain Simpson Obituary
Dwain Simpson, 82, of Springfield, Texas passed away August 20, 2020 in Athens, Texas. He was born to Jett Simpson and Lucille Cooper Simpson on July 16, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2020, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine, Texas. Family will begin accepting friends prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel.
In Dwain's early years, he lived in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. His family later moved to California where he graduated from Bellflower High School and attended Long Beach Community College. He excelled in sports lettering in track, pole vaulting and football. Later on, he enjoyed golf, leather work and woodworking. He began his career in the Food Industry where he worked for several baking companies including Laura Scudder Potato Chips, Oroweat Baking Company, International Baking Company, Mission Foods and last, Pepperidge Inc., where he retired after 25 years as District Sales Manager.
Dwain was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jett and Lucille Simpson, his sister, Leona Simpson and his son, Darren Simpson. He is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Linda Price Simpson; his sons, Rick Simpson, Omaha, Nebraska, Bryan Conard, Aspen, Colorado and Eric Conard, Springfield, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Bobbie Simpson, Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Nikki Simpson and husband, Tim Goergen, Brooklyn, New York, Emily and Taylor Simpson, Omaha, Nebraska and Elizabeth Destfino, Enid, Oklahoma; his sister, Sondra Ailey and husband, Floyd Ailey, Nardin, Oklahoma, niece; Debra Yeary and fiancé, Raymond Schiltz, Ponca City, Oklahoma; nephew; Dennis Ailey and wife, Ruth Ailey, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
A special thank you goes to his caregivers, Melba Edwards, Bob Henry, James Ray and Waynetta Wilson, for the loving care he received.
