Dr. Randy Bell DDS Obituary

Athens - Dr. Randy Bell was born on November 30, 1946, in Barnsdale, Oklahoma, and from the very beginning, his life was marked by purpose, faith, and kindness. He carried those qualities with him wherever he went, touching lives in steady and meaningful ways.

Randy spent his first formative years in Sheridan, TX, where he was baptized. At 12 years old, the Bell family moved to Corpus Christi, TX. Randy graduated from Mary Caroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1965, and went on to Abilene Christian University, graduating in 1969. That same year, on August 29, 1969, he married the love of his life, Sherilyn Jean Johnson. Their marriage of 56 years was a beautiful testimony of devotion, partnership, laughter, and faith—a true love story that anchored Randy's life.

In 1973, Randy graduated from dental school and began a life of service, serving in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1975. In 1975, he opened his dental practice in Kingwood, Texas, where he cared for generations of families for 38 years. To his patients, he was more than a dentist—he was a trusted friend, a calming presence, and a man of integrity.

Randy loved the Lord deeply. His faith was not something he merely spoke about—it was something he lived every day. He served faithfully as a deacon and elder at Kingwood Church of Christ, and later as an elder at Eastern Hills Church of Christ. His leadership was steady, thoughtful, grounded in Scripture, and his example strengthened countless lives.

In 2011, Randy and Sherry moved to Athens, Texas, where they continued to build community and invest in family and faith.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Ima Rae Bell, and his in-laws, S.L. and Thelma Johnson. He is survived by his devoted wife Sherry; his son Bryan Bell and wife Jill; his daughter Becky Shane and husband Matt; and his cherished grandchildren Avery Bell, Drew Bell, Christian Shane, and Cailyn Shane—each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicki Cheryl Ivy of Rockwall and Terri Rae Newhouse of Athens and many nephews and nieces.

Above all else, Randy will be remembered for who he was: a man of faith, humility, compassion, and unwavering love for his family. He lived a life that pointed others toward the Lord's goodness and grace. Though we grieve his passing on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, we rejoice in the promise he believed so fully—that he is now at peace, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Dr. Randy Bell lived well. He loved well. And his legacy will live on in every life he touched.
