Athens - A Celebration of Life for Charles Michael Jones will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Athens, Texas. Visitation will be immediately after the service.

Charles Michael Jones, known affectionately to many as Mike, Spike, and Pops, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 72 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born on August 13, 1952, Mike's life was characterized by his commitment to the Lord, unwavering love for his family, a spirit of generosity, and a remarkable ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him.

Mike grew up in Chandler, Texas, and was a proud graduate of Brownsboro High School's Class of 1971. He built a life filled with cherished moments and diverse passions. Mike had a lifelong love for the outdoors, finding joy and excitement in fishing and hunting. He also had a deep passion for classic cars and Cushman scooters, often sharing his enthusiasm with others.

Above all, Mike treasured time spent with his family and friends. His philosophy was "the more the merrier," and his home was always open to those he loved. Mike was truly one of a kind, known for his incredible generosity and willingness to share whatever he had or offer assistance to anyone in need. His infectious sense of humor and kind heart made him a beloved figure in his community. He will be remembered for his boundless kindness and the laughter he so freely shared.

Mike's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Candy Jones. Mike and Candy were married in 1988 and together they built a beautiful life, successfully running various businesses and raising their children. They shared a love for travel, embarking on countless adventures in their motorhome, journeying from the East Coast to the West Coast. Mike also cherished his time spent at the ranch in West Texas.

He was a loving father to his beloved children: Chanda Porter and her husband Aaron, Chuck Jones and his wife Cassie, and Lacey Loftis. Mike was a proud "Pops" to his seven grandchildren: Reece Porter (20), Strait Myers (19), Doak Porter (18), Cadence Jones (16), Westi Myers (15), Ketch Myers (11), and Credence Jones (1), all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He especially loved watching his grandkids participate in their sports and various activities.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Charles Leo Jones; his mother, Sue Helen Jones Porter; and his sister, Helen Jones.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Traditions Home Health, Enhabit Hospice, and South Place Nursing Center for their compassionate care. A special thank you is also offered to Stacie Eggers, who, over the past three years, became like family through her exceptional kindness, care, and unwavering attention to detail.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Coalition of Henderson County online at alzhendersoncotx.org.
