Bruce Edwin Hinds passed away at his home in Athens, Texas on August 23, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 1, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, to Frances Jean Hinds and William Norman Hinds. Bruce was the second oldest out of 5 brothers born into a careered United States Air Force Family, allowing Bruce to grow up in several places, including, Texas, Kansas, Florida, England and Japan. After attending Brevard Community College in 1966 - 1968, Bruce was drafted into the United States Army in 1968, serving in Vietnam as a Second Lieutenant in the 1st Air Calvary until his discharge in 1970. After serving in the United States Army, Bruce returned to Florida and attended University of South Florida in Tampa, earning his B.A. in Fine Arts, continuing on to University of Florida, earning his Masters in Architectural Design. In June 1983, he married Dorothy Hetmer Hinds and later moved to Athens, Texas in 1988. Bruce started his own custom home building company called Double H Enterprises, building beautiful custom homes all throughout East Texas. Bruce had a strong heart for missions and for helping anyone in need. If Bruce wasn't drilling water wells in Belize or swinging a hammer on another mission trip elsewhere in the world, he loved spending time at the beach in Florida with his family every chance he could get. He is survived by his wife of 36 Years, Dorothy Hetmer Hinds; daughter Hillary Hinds Holt and husband, Robert Christopher Holt of Austin, Texas; and son Dashiel Evan Hinds and wife, Adrianna Jones Hinds of Athens, Texas.
