Bobby Dwight Tillman

Bobby Dwight Tillman, lovingly known as "Dwight" or "D.T.," passed away at the age of 86.
Born in 1939 in New York, Texas, to Crawford Lincoln and Winnie Tillman, Dwight graduated from LaPoynor High School in 1959, where he was a varsity basketball player and Prom King.
He married Mildred Laurena Smith of Frankston in 1960. Together they raised three children: Eva Gwynne Patman, Rhonda Darlene Myers, and Bobby Keith Tillman.
That same year, Dwight began a lifelong career in the flooring industry in Dallas, Texas, where he earned a reputation as a respected leader in his profession. After retiring in 2006, he returned to his hometown of New York, where he built a home near his birthplace and spent his retirement farming, caring for the land he loved, and sharing his remarkable gift for growing almost anything. He truly had a green thumb and could grow just about anything from seeds he collected wherever he traveled.
Dwight never met a stranger. Known for his infectious smile, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need, he lived by the values of hard work, honesty, and putting family first. Growing up in the years following the Great Depression taught him the value of hard work, sacrifice, and appreciating what he had, and he carried those lessons throughout his life.
A man of strong Christian faith, Dwight believed that the greatest way to show his faith was through the way he treated others. He was humble, generous, quick to lend a helping hand, and always willing to share his knowledge, his time, or simply a smile. His life was quite an example of kindness, compassion, and service to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mildred and Peggy Tillman; his brother, Tony Tillman; and his sisters, Doris, Annabelle, Barbara, and Sue.
He is survived by his sister, Glenda Penney of New York, Texas; his children, Eva Gwynne Patman, Rhonda Darlene Myers, and Bobby Keith Tillman; his son-in-law, Ron Myers; his grandchildren, Vanessa Bennett (Albert Bennett), Matthew Patman, Lyndsey Patman, Jeremy Dwight Patman, Nathan Myers (Jessica Myers), Natalie McMahon Myers (Matthew McMahon), and Tanner Tillman; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Brittany Bennett, Katelyn Bennett, Joshua Bennett, Brody Kinnett, Justen Manning, Asher Williamson, Gavin Williamson, Noah Manning, Ricky Greenhaw, Cooper Myers, Finley McMahon, Micah McMahon, and Rosalie Joy McMahon.
Dwight will be remembered most for the love he gave, the example he set, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, humility, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family. His greatest legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he built, and the values he passed on to future generations.
