Athens - Bobbie Collins Hawkins of Athens, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born on July 24, 1934, in Wolfe City, Texas, Bobbie was the daughter of Robert Collins and Mozell Malone Collins. She was raised in Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from Forest Avenue High School and later attended Dallas Community College.
Bobbie married Robert "Bob" Hawkins in December 1951. Together, they lived in Dallas, Texas, and Arkansas before settling in Athens, where they owned and operated Arkoma Instruments and raised their family.
A dedicated community leader, Bobbie served as President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, the United Methodist Women, the Listener's Club, the Parents Group AMS, the Henderson County Women's Club, the Athens Academic Renaissance Club, the District Secretary of the Palestine District, the Athens Women's Club, the American Cancer Society, the Pilot Club International, the Arboretum, and the Kiwanis Club.
She was also the leader of the Boy Scouts, was honored as Athens Citizen of the Year in 2000, was a founding member of The Bridge Club, and served on the Cain Center Board. She volunteered extensively with the Athens Independent School District and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Athens, now known as Athens First Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, organizer of Vacation Bible School, Children's Coordinator, and numerous other honorable roles in her lifetime.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Hawkins; her parents; and her granddaughter, Whittney Hawkins-Corn.
She is survived by her sons: Craig Hawkins and Robyn Hawkins of Forney, Texas, and grandson, Nathan. Robert Hawkins and Penny Hawkins of Houston, Texas, and grandchildren, Zachary and Ashley. Richard Hawkins and Carla Hawkins of Athens, Texas, and grandchildren, Isabella, Lexie, and Elena. She is also survived by her special son, Bryan Corn, who was married to Whittney Hawkins-Corn.
Bobbie will be remembered by numerous extended family members, friends, all those souls she touched during her lifetime, and for her devotion to her family, faith, and community.
Visitation with the Hawkins family will be held from 1:30-2 p.m., with a celebration of Hawkins' life to be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 5, at Athens First Methodist Church, 225 Lovers Lane in Athens.
