Anna Laura Slater Miller Thiede Obituary

Athens - Ann, as she was known by her many friends, was the second child of Clarence and Irene Slater. She was born in the Ritter Community on the family farm, east of Lewisville, on August 8, 1929. By the time she was crawling, she was mussing into everything left unguarded and her grandfather started calling her Muss - and to her family, she has forever been called Muss, but her husband called her "Miss Ann".

She and her older sister, Charlene, dominated the attention of her parents and grandparents for the first 8-10 years of her life, when two brothers, Gerald and Jimmy appeared on the scene. Muss loved the outdoors and helping her grandfather with his farm chores. She loved horses and could ride with the best.

Muss completed her elementary education at Lake School in the Ritter Community and High School in Lewisville. She later became a certified LVN and enjoyed many years in that profession. She loved people and loved helping them. Her specialty and highlight of her life was caring for students at the Denton State School and caring for residents at the Lewisville Nursing Home.

She obeyed Christ's Gospel at an early age and did her best to live it. She was a longtime member of the Central Church of Christ located on Cream Level road in Athens.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husbands, Henry Miller and Homer Thiede, her daughter Laura Gayle, and two sons Bill Miller and Dale Miller. She is survived by one son, Bob Miller; four grandchildren: Leslie Armstrong Hale (Frankie), Lacy Armstrong Redman (Alan), Lance Armstrong (Leah), and Chanc Miller; seven great-grandchildren; both her brothers; and a host of extended family and friends.

Among those special extended family and friends were her nephew and longtime caregivers, Stephen and Roxann Slater, and Dana Caraway, her friend and sister in Christ.

Visitation will be at the Central Church of Christ, 1408 Cream Level Rd. Athens on Saturday, Aug 2nd at 1 PM with the service to follow at 2 PM. There will be a grave side service at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville, TX at 11 AM on Monday, Aug. 4th.

Pall bears will consist of relatives of Anna.
