Wallace's Story

Wallace Rick Taylor, 56 of Athens, known to his friends as Ricky or "Paw-Paw," passed away May 3, 2017. He was born September 12, 1960 to the late Esulee and Ruth Blair Taylor in Three Rivers, Texas.
Rick is survived by his sister, Vicky Durham. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Jo Gregory, and his brothers, Rocky Taylor and Rodney Taylor.son Ricky Don and wife April Taylor, son Jason Taylor, daughter Amy Rich, and five grandchildren, all of Oklahoma.
Leaving home at young age, Rick worked in oil fields, farms, ranches and driving big rigs for most of his life.
Rick was outgoing, welcoming, and had many, many friends, both in and out of the recovery community. Many would agree that he was "king of the story-tellers."
Rick was a member of First Christian Church, and attended many Bible Studies at Lila Lane Outreach. Rick repeatedly declared that Lila Lane Outreach (Men's Life Recovery Center) "saved my life."
His Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 June 4th, 2017 at First Christian Church, 900 Robbins Road, Athens.
Following the service, in the church Fellowship Hall,during a "covered dish" dinner, his memory will be honored with music and "Rick" stories by his many friends.
His personal request is that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Lila Lane Outreach, 101 Lila Lane, Athens Texas 75751.
