Ricky Lawrence Baker, better known as "Old Man," 58, of Athens, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Hall and Pastor LL Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at North Athens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Major Funeral Home.
Ricky was born November 24, 1958 to the late Bennie Baker, Jr. and Helen Baker Donnell.
He graduated from Athens High School, and held various jobs in the Athens Community. He loved to cook, and spend time with his family.
His mother and father preceded him in death.
He is survived by: sisters, Janice Baker of Athens, Texas; Sharon Wilson (Damon) of Tyler, Texas; Brenda Causey of Athens, Texas; Louie Criner of Athens, Texas; brothers: Jason Baker (Doris) of Athens, Texas; Ronny Baker of Athens, Texas; Rev. Bennie Wayne Baker of Tucson, Arizona; Chris Baker of Athens, Texas, daughter Alexis Williams, step grandson Colin Barker; special friend whom he called sister-in-law Ewana Warren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Active Pallbearers will be Tart Everage, Eric Dosson, Deshun Edwards, Jamie Baker, Jason Baker, and Ronnie Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brittany Williams, Jessica Baker, Landon Criner, Angel Causey, Kiana Baker, Adria Baker, Destiny Lewis and Erma Hurd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
