Memorial services for Peggy Grier 78, Athens have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Athens with Dr. Kyle Henderson officiating under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Peggy passed away May 3, 2016 in Tyler.
She was born April 1, 1938 in Celeste, Texas to the late Aubrey Glenn and Willie Faye Purkey Compton. She was a graduate from East Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She worked for Dallas Independent School District for 16 years. She then relocated to Athens in 1982 and worked for Trinity Valley Community College for 10 years as a Client Services Specialist before retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens where she was involved in many activities. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and collected Dolls and Tea Sets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Kari Wells, and sister, Myra Rushing.
Survivors include her husband, Herchel Grier, Athens, son, Paul Grier, Alvarado, daughter; Rene Sulaica and husband Phillip, Mesquite, grandchildren; Christopher Wells and wife Christy, Ashley Sulaica, Courtney Sulaica, great-grandchildren; Bradly Green, Carin Vaughan, Kassie Vaughan and Tatiana Vaughan, sister; Billie Spoonemore and husband Glen , Celeste.
Visitation will be held from 1-2P.M. prior to the service.
