Funeral services for Nelda "Nana" Dowell, 76 of Athens have been scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Dean officiating.
Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Dowell passed away Saturday July 15, 2017 in Athens.
She was born December 3, 1940 in Athens to the late Jay and Katie Maureen Couch Williams. Nana was a resident of Athens her entire life, and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She and her husband loved to travel when they had the chance, and had experienced many places. Nana loved to cook, and had a passion for taking care of others.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sons, David Lee Dowell and Pete Dowell; nephew, Scott Kinnard.
Survivors include: her husband of 60 years, Billy Wayne Dowell, Athens; daughter, Kim Corley and husband Mickey, Malakoff; son, Steve Dowell and wife Reba, Athens; grandchildren, Kristin Hinds and husband Eddie, Athens, Billy Marc Dowell and wife Shena, Trinidad, Katie Parnell and husband Kevin, Abilene, Scott Wayne Dowell, Phoenix, Arizona, Cody Corley, Malakoff, Chance Dowell, Dallas; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Jay Kinnard, Glen Rose, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Scott Wayne Dowell, Cody Corley, Billy Dowell, Chance Dowell, Kevin Parnell and Clint Westmoreland.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Dowell.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
