Michaeleen Moffitt of Kemp, Texas died on October 28, 2016 in Heath, Texas. She was born on October 22, 1934, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to J. Henry Williams and Nanny Pearl Lasater Williams. She moved from Arkansas to Midland, Texas in 1955 and to Dallas in 1967 prior to moving to the Cedar Creek Lake area in 1992. She hosted a radio talk show on radio station KLVQ from 1994 to 1996 and operated the Bird House in Gun Barrel City from 1992 until early 1995.
She was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 2008, and belonged to the St. James on the Lake Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild, as a lay reader, in the nursery, and on the vestry where she served as Senior Warden in 2013. She was an original member of the Esther Chapter of the Daughters of the King at St. James and served as president of the organization in 2014.
Michaeleen pledged herself to a life-long program of service to others including volunteering at the Genesis Center in Kaufman, the Kaufman Public Library where she taught adult literacy, Amy Parks Elementary in Heath, and many other charitable organizations and church ministries over the years.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Bruce Castleberry and his wife Miriam Schwartz Castleberry of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Curtis Edwin Castleberry and his wife Christina of Heath, Texas. She was proudest of her grandchildren all of whom were very special to her. They are Justin Miles Bishop, Bailey Anne Castleberry, Catrina Marie Lewis, Camille Marie Castleberry, Carmen Marie Castleberry and Cole Edwin Castleberry. She is also survived by three sisters, P. J. Turnbeaugh (Frank) and Nancy Snow (Bill) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Phyllis Reynolds (Don) of Winter Garden, Florida, a special brother George Margaritis of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, and the daughter she never had, Bonnie Bishop of Cedar Hill. She was preceded in death by a fourth sister, Becky Margaritis, in 2011, by her parents, and by her husband Jack A. Moffitt.
Michaeleen's friends and family will gather at St. James On The Lake Episcopal Church in Kemp, TX to celebrate her life on Friday, November 4 at 11:00a. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a charitable donation to her church or The Genesis Center of Kaufman.
