A memorial service will be held for Karen Nelson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at VFW 7103 in Athens.
Karen Sue Hancock Nelson was born June 8, 1953 in Tucson, Arizona. She had been a resident Athens for 36 years, formerly living in Arlington. She worked as a shipping manager and bar manager, and worked in medical supplies through the years.
Karen passed away at the age of 64 on June 29, 2017 at her home in Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Nelson.
Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Clifton & Michelle Lowe of Athens, Dana & Andy Kinabrew, and Dianna & David Burnthorn of Louisiana; parents, Royal & Lucille Hancock of Quitman; brothers, Royal Hancock, Jr. and Robert Hancock; eight grandchildren, Bradley Lowe, Payton Smith, Courtney Burnthorn, Katelyn Smith, BreAnna Ochoa, Michael Burnthorn, Trenton Kirk and Haylie Lowe; and one great-grandson, Jaxon Ochoa.
