June's Story

June Echols, 78 of Brownsboro peacefully returned to our Father in Heaven on May 3, 2016 with family by her side. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Echols Cemetery on Jennings Mountain in Brownsboro. She was born October 22, 1937 in Malakoff to the late Jesse Clyde Thomas and Mary Selman Thomas. June was a devoted wife to her late husband Richard. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Elna Tidmore and Sherry Daniel. She graduated from Athens High School in 1956. June met Richard in Athens where he attended college and they were married in 1957. They made their home in Brownsboro. June supported their family business Echols and Daughter's Construction Company as the bookkeeper for 45 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Brownsboro. She considered her four daughters her greatest achievement in life. Her joy was her family. She filled her life with friends, attending her daughters sporting activities and being their biggest fan. She was selfless in her sacrifices to support her girls. Once she was blessed with grandchildren her life was truly enriched spending countless hours celebrating life and making memories. The little one's came along and quickly found a place in her heart and on her lap and were responsible for so much laughter and smiles. June is survived by her daughters Cheryl Slover and husband Johnny, Joan McLemore and husband Kelly, Lisa Huffman and husband Gerry, Janice Short and husband Michael; sister and best friend Jessielene Dingler, grandchildren Dustin, Bruce, Ciji and husband Brian, Brittani and husband Kyle, Klint, Zane, Callie and husband Will, and Luke; great-grandchildren Kadence, Brock, Briley, Bentley, Zach and Lily. She was a wonderful Momma June and loved beyond words by her nieces, nephews and their children.
