Services for J.R. Scott were held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel in Mabank, TX with Bro. Rick Wyatt officiating. Interment followed the service at Elm Grove Cemetery. J.R. Scott was born May 13, 1929 to Ira and Annie Johnson Scott and lived all his life in Mabank. J.R. was a volunteer fireman and served on Mabank City Council. He was part owner of Holiday Club Estates and owner of Prairie Creek Marina. J.R. was also co-owner of Nob Hill and Forgotten Acres. He built the first pontoon barge on Cedar Creek Lake.
J.R. was preceded in death by wife Jenna in 2011 and five sisters.
He is survived by one daughter Lois Buford (Eugene) of Athens, two sons; Terry Scott (Judith) of Mabank and Randy Scott (Tammy) of Plano, grandchildren; Lisa Dailey of Tyler, Kevin Upchurch (Staci) of Athens, Ginger Morrison (Michael) of Athens, Brandon Buford (Dena) of Coppell, Jason Scott (Leslie) of Mabank, Jessica Scott of Mabank, Jennifer Scott (Edward) of Rowlett, Janet Bernstien (Harry) of Carrollton, Danny Scott of Edmond, Lawrence DeCottin (Macrina) of Italy, Nicholas Alcala and Alister Alcala of Mabank, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, one sister Ruth Smith of Holly Lake Ranch, other loving family members and many more friends.
Pallbearers were Jason Scott, Harry Bernstien, Nicholas Alcala, Alister Alcala, Michael Morrison and Dan Wakeman. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Scott, Kevin Upchurch, Brandon Buford, Jim Horne, Doug Moore and Lawrence DeCottin.
