Graveside services for Vernon Lowell "Binge" Farmer age 90, of Athens will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday September 3rd at Union Cemetery on Hwy 59 near Cross Roads, TX.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine, TX.
Mr. Farmer died Monday at East Texas Medical Center in Athens. He was born August 4, 1926 in Eureka, Texas to Dalton Edward Farmer and Lillie Mae Seal Farmer. Mr. Farmer was retired from Curtis Mathis Television in Athens where he worked as a finishing supervisor. Mr. Farmer was also in the United States Army and served his country in World War II. Mr. Farmer loved to garden and enjoyed selling his produce locally and as well as sharing his vegetable with his friends and neighbors.
Mr. Farmer was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Truman, Keith and Morris Farmer, sisters Aileen Griffith and Oneda Morgan. He was also proceeded in death by his second wife, Martha "Mutt" Farmer of Athens and a step-son Billy Don Partin.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lee Farmer of Athens. He is also survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Holloway, a son Vernon Earl Farmer and daughter Carolyn Gilmore all of San Marcus, TX. Three step-daughters, June Knott of Athens, TX, Carol Smith of Vernon, TX and Sandra Webb of Rockwall, TX. Numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well as and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be Friday September 2nd from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Bailey & Foster Funeral home in Palestine, TX.
