A memorial service celebrating the life of Thelma L. Dotson Adair was held Sunday, October 9 at Zion Hill Church in Walton, with Rev. Josh Adair presiding over the services. Thelma was born July 6th 1928 in the Rock Hill community in Van Zandt county, and passed away October 7th 2016 in Athens.
Thelma was a great lady of love, empathy, energy and enthusiasm. She was a strong person of faith who let her testimony and love for the Lord, live out in her daily life. She married the love of her life, Harvey V. Adair on September 18th 1944. And together they built their life around their love for their children and family until his passing in 1998.
Thelma genuinely loved people and it became her life's calling. And in 1967 began working at the Athens Nursing Home, under the guidance of the Gibbs family, ( Wes and Nannie Gibbs). It was there that she got her start and the opportunity to care for those people who could no longer care for themselves. She went on to work as a nursing home administrator for 25 years. And was a member of Zion Hill church.
She is survived by her brother, Claude E. Dotson and wife Faye of Troup; her 3 children: daughter, Francis and husband, Gene Bethea of Murchison, Harvey Gene and wife, Linda, and Timmy R. Adair and wife, Linda of the Bethel community. She is survived by grandchildren: Trevor D. Bethea (Polly), Jennifer Bethea Hamm, Brandon T. Bethea (Margaret) Jarrod Adair (Sylvia) Josh Adair (Sara) Jeff Adair (Katie); Heath Adair (Summer) and Heather Adair Pruitt ( Dwayne).
Great grandchildren: Keegan Adair, Madeline Pruitt, Mallory Pruitt, Carson Adair, Haylee Adair Cravey, Levi Adair, Cade Adair, Vance Adair, Everly Rose and Wilder Brooks Hamm, Jeff Adair, and Joshua Cameron. She is also survived by nephew, Buddy Dotson, and nieces, Karen Allen, Kathy Dansby, Karlyn Simmons, and Karla Williamson. Great great grandchild, Elaina Cravey.
