Athens - Funeral services for Stanley Haynes, 59, of Murchison will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Terry Thomison officiating.
Mr. Haynes passed away January 27, 2018, in Murchison, Texas.
Stanley Franklin Haynes was born April 4, 1958, in Clarksville, Texas the son of Anthony Franklin Haynes and Gayle Hudson Haynes. He lived in Bogata, Texas until 1964 when his family moved to Murchison, where he spent the next 12 years before he joined the United States Army. Stan served his country for 6-1/2 years and during that time he met his wife Cornelia (Connie) Monika Koehler in Bamberg, Germany where he was stationed and they married in 1980. After he was Honorably discharged they moved back and settled into his childhood home in Murchison and began a family. He was a bridge inspector for the Texas Highway Department for over 19 years before he retired to begin the ranch and farming life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved horses; running cutting horses and feedlot sorting, raising cattle, bailing hay, fishing and hunting. OPA was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who will be missed by all he knew and loved.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother in law John Robertson.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Connie Haynes of Murchison; two children, Benji Haynes and wife Chaunte of Lindale, Patricia Cole and husband Christopher of Murchison; mother Gayle Haynes of McAllen; four sisters, Nicki Biggs and husband William of Corsicana, Mary Booth and husband Sonny of Chandler, Carol Robertson of Chandler, Becky Callaway and husband Chris of McAllen; one brother James David Haynes of Navasota; three grandchildren, Grace Haynes, Liam Cole, Adalyn Cole; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4-6:00 P.M. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in his memory to a Horse Rescue or any Animal Charity of your choice.
