Funeral services for Mr. Richard Earl Roberts, 64, Athens, will be 1pm, Monday, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. L. L. Jackson, eulogist. Burial will follow in North Athens City Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co. Mr. Roberts died December 11, 2016 in LaRue, Texas.
He was born October 24, 1952 in Big Sandy, Texas and attended Winona Public Schools. He was a resident of Henderson County for forty plus years, and was a mechanic for the City of Athens for 44 years.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Ellen Robets and two children, Yolanda Roberts and Terry G. Roberts, father, Richard Roberts, three sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include:
three sons, Willie Earl Roberts (Reebe), Bertrell Roberts, David Roberts (Chrystal) all of Athens; three daughters, Carolyn Roberts (Andre), Hearne, Texas, Dianna "Renee" Taylor (Dwight), LaRue, Texas, and Rebecca Roberts (Willie), Athens, Texas; five brothers, Jessie Roberts, Wayne Roberts, and Walter Roberts all of Athens, Texas, Willie Roberts and Arthur Roberts both of Fort Worth; three sisters, Pearl Roberts, Tyler, Texas, Carolyn Johnson, LaRue, Texas and Sharon Caines, Brownsboro, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Sunday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
