A Memorial Mass will be held for Otis Moore at noon on May 17 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens, with Father Nolan Lowery officiating.
Otis Martin Moore was born January 5, 1924 in Corsicana, Texas to the late Allie Martin Moore and Ola Mae Burleson Moore. He had been a resident of Tyler for 8 years, formerly living in Brownsboro for 32 years. He was an active member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens, and a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a frequent volunteer at ETMC in Athens.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 182nd infantry Americal Division, participating in the Northern Solomons Campaign and the Southern Philippines Campaign. He was the recipient of Two Bronze Service Stars and the Purple Heart.
He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Dolores Moore of Tyler; sister Betty Moye of Arlington, Texas; and brother Minuard Moore of Terrell, Texas. He is also survived by two daughters: Connie Moore Catt of The Colony, Texas.; Michele Caldwell and her husband Hayes Caldwell of Winona.
