Kenneth's Story

Mr. Kenneth Lee Murphy, 77, of Bradford, TX passed from this life on July 27th, 2016 in Bradford, Texas.
Ken was born on September 13th, 1938 in Ramsey, Illinois to Willie F. and Mable G. Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Mable, brother Bob Murphy of Cherokee Village Arkansas, sister Nadene 'Toots' Horner of Ramsey Illinois, wife Scotty Murphy, son Larry Murphy, and grandson Donald Cole Hamby.
He is survived by two sisters, Betty Wollerman (Ken) of Ramsey Illinois and Esther Hill (David) of Vandalia Illinois, his three children, Dana and Ken Hamby of Chandler, Mike and Deana Murphy of Brownsboro, Kevin and DeAnn Murphy of Bradford, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his loving cat Koko and Rory the Rooster.
Ken joined the United States Air Force at 18 years of age and travelled the world from Germany to Hawaii raising a family before retiring as a Master Sargent at Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo Texas with 21 years of meritorious service. After retirement he pursued careers in banking, purchasing, and state government. Ken was a long time resident of Athens, Texas and recently moved to the Bradford area to pursue retired ranch life on the Blue Sun Ranch where he was often seen walking the ranch or speeding about in his Gator.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Gun Barrel City on Saturday, August 6th, 2016@ 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Ken asks that donations may be made to either the Athens Family Peace Project or St. Peter Lutheran Church.
