Memorial services for Julian Preston Greer, Jr. "Bud" will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Poynor, Texas.  Mr. Greer went home to God, our Lord and creator Monday May 1, 2017 in Athens.  He was born July 22, 1932 in Elkhart, Texas to Julian Preston and Lucy Douglas Greer.  He served three years as a Merchant Marine, then pursued his academic studies at University of Texas Austin and Lamar University, where he earned a Master's Degree in History.  He worked for the U.S. Department of Labor at both state and federal levels for years.  
J.P. Greer married Aida Flores Greer on March 27, 1967. He was a master checkers player, and loved spending time with friends at the Cain Center. He enjoyed making those around him laugh anytime he could. Nothing could hide his undying support and love he had for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Aida Flores Greer, his parents, Julian and Lucy Greer and seven siblings.  
Survivors include: his sister, Mary Greer Mitchell;  two daughters,Yvette Greer Nunez and Denise Greer Kilgore; and his six grandsons, Alex, Jackson, and Beau Killgore and Jeremey, Michael, and Austin Nunez.
