Jennifer passed away June 8, 2017 in Tyler, Texas after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was born on November 2, 1968 to Nancy and Matt Campbell at Beale Air Force Base Hospital near Marysville, California. Jennifer grew up in Sacramento, and after completing her sophomore year at St. Francis, moved to Seattle, and graduated from Blanchet High School in 1986. She advanced to Washington State University, graduating in 1991. Jen moved to Texas in the early 90s, and had a distinguished career as a teacher, impacting hundreds of students along the way.
Jennifer was a loving and devoted mom to Tyler and Madison Lamance, who were the center of her entire world. She was more than just a friend to most. She was always the life of the party, and known for her wonderful sense of humor, and a very quick wit that would leave anybody rolling on the floor laughing. Jennifer loved teaching her students who absolutely admired her. She inherited her mother's cooking skills, and was a skilled hostess who loved entertaining and socializing with her friends and family.
To quote her beloved Stuart Scott, "When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live." Jennifer never let her battle with cancer effect how she lived, even though at times, mere mortals would have given up. Jennifer lived like no other. The reasons she waged such an epic battle were: her kids; her dogs; her students; and her family and friends.
She was deeply passionate about animals and their welfare; as evidenced by the endless parade of rescued dogs and cats living large in her home. Her sense of humor served her well, and usually no jokes were considered "off limits." She truly believed that a person should not take their time with family and friends for granted, because you never know what tomorrow will bring. Love was Jen's life, her legacy her gift. What a wonderful way to be remembered.
Jennifer is survived by: her children, Tyler and Madison Lamance; her fathers, Matthew Campbell, Jr. (Irene) and Ted McCaugherty (Jan); her siblings, Matthew Campbell III (Amy) and Cam McCaugherty; her nephew, Matthew Campbell IV; and nieces, Casey and Chloe Campbell; and a large extended family. She is also survived by her loving companion, Lewis Crowell, and her indispensable friends, Jeanne Mathews Worrell, Janice Loden and Kim Chargin Cilley. She was preceded in death in 2005 by her mother, Nancy McCaugherty.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 101 W. Lee St., Seattle , WA 98119.
Jennifer's family suggests that she be remembered through donations to your local SPCA or Humane Society.
