Funeral services for Jackie Sue Junell Spencer of Palestine will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at Westwood Baptist Church in Palestine. Reverend Rick Dees will be officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery in Athens under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Jackie passed away at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler on Monday, August 1, 2016.
Jackie Junell Spencer was born in Athens, Texas on September 14, 1950, to Jack and Wanda Junell of Eustace. Jackie graduated from Eustace High School in 1969 and in 1970 gave birth to her son, Joe Michael McEvoy, Jr.
In March 1974, Jackie married Steve M. Spencer of Athens. After several years in Brownwood, they moved to Palestine where Steve opened a CPA practice and Jackie became a professional cosmetologist. In August 1993, Stephanie Michelle Spencer was born and Jackie became a full time homemaker.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Wanda Junell; two sisters, Sharon Crawford and Cricket Holcomb; a brother, Gary Junell; and a son, Joe Michael McEvoy, Jr.
Jackie is survived by husband, Steve M. Spencer and daughter, Stephanie Michelle Spencer of Palestine; grandson, Tanner McEvoy of Galveston; and sisters, Diana Kotil of Athens, Rhonda Browning of Mabank, Debra Amos of Murchison, Pam Chappell of Mabank, and Kimberley Darden of Athens.
Pallbearers will be James Lee Lookabough, Kevin Bennight, Shane Price, Josh Chappell, John Chappell, and Wayne Lookabough. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Taylor and Bodi Watson.
Condolence calls and viewing will be at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
