Graveside services for Duane Ard Perry, 91 Athens were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Athens Cemetery.
Mrs. Perry passed away Thursday morning in Athens.
She was born February 12, 1925 in Brownsboro, Texas to the late William Archie and Clara Ethel Barry Ard. She had lifetime roots in the Athens and Brownsboro communities after she graduated from High School in San Antonio in 1941 and completing her BA and MA in Education from Baylor University in 1956.
She spent 30 years as a public school teacher retiring in 1986 after tenures in Waco, Athens and Sweeney. She loved the study of genealogy. She traveled the United States and overseas researching her family. She even got her pilots license and bought a plane which she flew 3 times across the United States to aide her in this research. But her true loves as she put in order was Gilbert, Flying, Traveling and the kids she taught.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Percy Gilbert Perry in 1975, and 5 siblings.
Survivors include a nephew; Bob Ard, Midwest City, Ok., special friends, Diane Locke, Crossroads, Bonnie Hocutt, Athens.
No visitation will be held.
