Memorial services will be held for Dewana "Kay" Katherine Hallmark on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Dewana was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens. All arrangements are under the direction of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Dewana was born August 25, 1963. She graduated from Athens High School, and attended TVCC in Athens and Angelina College in Lufkin, where she received a diploma for Medical Assistant. She worked at clinics and health care centers in Livingston and Cleveland for several years. She loved her work.
Dewana spent her idle time watching her favorite old-time sit-coms like "I love Lucy" and "I dream of Jeannie." She loved working in the the yard tending her flowers and veggies. She also loved to go shopping.
Dewana loved animals, and they loved her. She always had some in her lap at all times, from dogs and cats, to ferrets, iguanas and cockatoos.
Her children and grandchildren were the delights of her life. Her grandchildren loved spending nights and weekends with "Nana"/"Nanny." They loved visiting zoos, parks and going to the lake.
Dewana was very talented in woodwork and other crafts. She enjoyed building things to decorate her house.
She is survived by: her parents, Dewayne and Judy Hallmark of Athens; her daughter, Crystal Renee Jones of Conroe; her son, Seth Kyle Jones of Conroe; her grandchildren, Ethan Michael Brown of Conroe, Carly Lynn and Kyle Reid Jones of Conroe.
