Celebration services for Betty Hickman will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Gates Community Church International, 702 W. Tyler St., Athens, Texas.
Betty Ann Mayhall Hickman was born April 21, 1936 in Aransas Pass, Texas and passed away at the age of 80 on September 13, 2016. She had been a resident of Athens for 11 years, and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hickman; parents, Dollie Oma Gray and Jason Watson Mayhall; grandson, Christopher Lee Hickman; eight brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include her three children, Robert Lee Hickman and wife Rena, Glenda Sue Bishop and husband Steven, and William Ray Hickman; two Hunka-daughters, Joanna Goldman and Joann Spotted Bear; eight grandchildren, Hunka granddaughter Savanna Griffith; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Because of a special love bond with Arricka Hickman, her desire was to live long enough to see the birth of her last great-grandbaby, Aiden William Hickman.
Special thanks to her nurses, Connie and Courtney and her aides, Cheri and Erica.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Native American Charity: One Spirit, PO Box, 3209, Rapid City, SD 57709.
