Barbara's Story

Barbara Marie Grissom, age 72, of Athens, passed away to her heavenly home on Monday May 16, 2016.  She was born July 15, 1943 to James Thomas Henderson and Dorothy Emmer Taylor Henderson in Luxora Arkansas.
Barbara loved life.  She enjoyed many times camping with her family at the Indian Reservation.  She loved her church family and spending time with them.  She enjoyed singing and playing the accordion.
She is survived by her husband David Grissom of Athens, Two sons, Jimmy Grissom and wife Tina , Ray Grissom all of Athens.  Two daughters, Elizabeth Washington and husband Truman, of Mabank,  Kathy Williams of Athens.   7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Two brothers, Robert Joe Henderson and wife Janet of Broken Bow Oklahoma, James Turner Henderson and wife Lucille Henderson of Foreman, Arkansas.  One sister, Rachel Graham of Millport, Alabama.  Also survived are several nieces and nephews along with a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Rodney Clay Grissom, and two brothers. 
Visitation will be held Tuesday May 17, 2016 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the Athens Church Of God in Athens, Wednesday, May 18 ,2016 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Chuck Hinton officiating.  Burial to follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Athens Church of God.
