Albert's Story

On September 26, 2016 Albert "Dumples" Cole Rainwater passed peacefully at his home in Malakoff.  He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church.
Dumples lived most of his life in Cross Roads, Texas.  He graduated from Cross Roads High School in 1949.  He was proud to be the first boys Little League coach in Cross Roads during the early 1960's.  Dumples loved playing dominos at the local domino hall and spending time with his family.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all.  He never ceased cracking jokes and making those surrounding him laugh. 
Dumples was born on July 15, 1931 to the late George Rainwater and late Edith Carrigan Rainwater of Cross Roads.
He is survived by his children and their spouses Paula and Mike Moore of Cross Roads, Doug and Linda Rainwater, Teena and Roy Linder of Malakoff, Kelly and Diane Rainwater of Brownsboro,  Lee Ann and Roger Millender of Opelika; his grandchildren,  Rhett and Jeri Moore, Viveca Matlock,  Jason and Mindy Rainwater, Jamie Rainwater, Alisa Rainwater, J.L. Kinabrew, Amy and Brian Slaton, Kara and Daniel McClure, Weston Rainwater, Larry Milender, Emily Millender, Blake and Amber Presley, RJ and Rachel Linder;  great-grandchildren Bayleigh and Kyleigh White, Makenzy and Kendal Slaton, Brannon Matlock, Camlann Moore, Adam Kinabrew, Anthony Presley, Izabella Presley, Elizabeth Presley, River Linder, Hunter Linder, and Leah Willbanks, his nieces, nephews and cousins, and their families. Also surviving is a very special friend, Mable Simmons and her family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alvis Rainwater, sister and brother-in-law Elmedeen " Tody" Rainwater King and Orvin King, and a nephew Harvey Rainwater. 
Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM  at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.  Funeral services will be Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, with Tony Murray and McJohn Bagley officiating.  Burial to follow at Becks Chapel Cemetery.   Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Rhett Moore, Jason Rainwater, Jamie Rainwater, J.L. Kinabrew, Weston Rainwater, and Larry Millender.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grand sons-in-law Daniel McClure and Brian Slaton, along with his domino playing buddies, Jerry Stover, Doyle Trammell, Sammy Scott and Johnnie Rainwater.
The family wishes to say a very special thank you to Chaplain Sharon Walker for her love and care for the family and for Dumples.
